THE BREATHABILITY OF YOUR SAFETY SHOES

WHAT IS BREATHABILITY?

The breathability of a shoe is its ability to evacuate water vapour.

Our bodies, which are 60% water, evacuate an average of 2.5 litres of water a day. Feet are one of the parts of the body that perspires the most. Wearing safety shoes and doing physical activity intensifies perspiration. And yes, over the course of a working day, your feet perspire 200ml per foot - that's the equivalent of a glass of water!

WHY IS BREATHABILITY ESSENTIAL?

- The water you lose when wearing your safety shoes affects how comfortable they are. Depending on the temperature, sweaty feet can make you feel hot or cold. That's why it's so important to keep your feet dry.

- Poor perspiration management can also lead to the following problems:

      -        Bad smell

      -        Fungal infections in the feet and nails

      -        Dyshidrosis, calluses, cracks

      -        Poor circulation

WHICH SHOES?

All the materials used to make safety shoes have a direct impact on breathability. That's why it's important to choose the right materials for the lining and upper.

- The Superflex range and in particular the models inspired by sport, SQUASH and SLALUM (men's and women’s), will give you incredible comfort and breathability.

- The PARULO ankle boots are ideal for you. With their mesh and microfibre upper with fabric lining, your feet can breathe!

-  The ultra-breathable JEINOU sneaker with its 3D mesh upper will be your best ally.

TIPS TO PROMOTE BREATHABILITY

Insoles

The insole, which lines the bottom of your shoe, is the part that has to deal with the most sweat. It therefore has an essential role to play in shoe breathability. The right insole composition ensures maximum sweat absorption. In Parade safety footwear, our insoles are designed to address this issue. However, if you wish, you can change the insole and buy new ones Parade removable insoles.

We recommend you remove the insole from your shoe every day when you get home after work. This will release any accumulated moisture. The ideal situation is to alternate between 2 pairs of shoes.

Socks

When it comes to breathability, it is important to consider your socks. Socks are one of your best allies against perspiration. It is important to choose fabrics that promote breathability; cotton is the most effective. What's more, abrasion resistance standards for the inner linings of safety shoes call for highly durable materials. These materials will easily get the better of your regular socks. That's why we've designed socks that meet both these requirements.

Try Parade’s MADRID socks made from 70% cotton.

Storage

And don't forget how to store your safety shoes!  Good storage will help fight any moisture in your shoes.

- Avoid storing your safety shoes in their cardboard box. Cardboard can retain moisture and, being absorbent, it can suck up and hold water.

- Never use airtight PLASTIC BOXES. As the name suggests, they are hermetically sealed, leaving no room for the exchange of water or air. They keep your shoes warm and moist.

Choose a place that is well ventilated and store your shoes in a shoe cupboard with shelves.

All these Parade breathability tips for your safety shoes can also help reduce and even eliminate unpleasant odours. If, despite this, you are still suffering from unpleasant odours, you can use a deodorant/disinfectant spray on the inside of your shoes.
